Send and receive text letters on iPhone

Use the Messages app to send and receive texts, photos, videos, and audio letters. You can likewise personalize your messages with animated effects, Memoji stickers, iMessage apps, and more.

Send a message

Yous tin can transport a text message to 1 or more people.

1. Tap at the top of the screen to start a new message, or tap an existing bulletin.

To view conversation details, tap the name or telephone number at the top of the screen. You can tap the contact to edit the contact card, share your location, view attachments, get out a group chat, and more than.

1. In the Messages list, tap the conversation that you want to reply to.

   To search for contacts and content in conversations, pull down the Messages list and enter what you're looking for in the search field. Or, cull from the suggested contacts, links, photos, and more.

2. Tap the text field, so type your message.

3. Tap to send your message.

Share your proper name and photo

To change your proper noun, photo, or sharing options, open Messages, tap , tap Edit Name and Photo, then do any of the following:

• Turn sharing on or off: Tap the button next to Name and Photo Sharing (green indicates that information technology'south on).

Your Messages name and photo tin can also be used for your Apple ID and My Card in Contacts.

Pin a conversation

Yous can pivot specific conversations to the peak of the Letters listing so the people you contact most e'er come up first in the list.

• Swipe right on a conversation, and then tap .

• Touch and hold a conversation, and then drag it to the height of the listing.

Unpin a conversation

You tin can unpin specific conversations at the top of the Letters list.

• Touch and hold a conversation, so tap .

Switch from a Letters chat to a FaceTime audio or video phone call

In a Letters chat, you lot tin start a FaceTime sound or video call with the person you're chatting with.

1. In a Messages conversation, tap .

2. Tap FaceTime audio or FaceTime video.

Send a message to a business organization

Some businesses allow you to communicate with them directly, to ask questions, resolve issues, go communication on what to buy, brand purchases with Apple tree Pay, and more.

1. Search for the business y'all desire to conversation with using Maps, Safari, Search, or Siri.

2. Start a conversation by borer a chat link in the search results.
