Reading Order for Thor by Jason Aaron

Thor by Jason Aaron Reading Order

I volition first this review proverb that, much to my own surprise, the Thor by Jason Aaron run is i the sagas I enjoyed the most during the last years of comics. But also, finding Jason Aaron'south run on Thor is quite disruptive for someone who wasn´t following the title (as I was) due to Marvel's dumb and continuous renumbering.

So let's attempt to calorie-free the road a little flake for the newcomers here and clear a fiddling fleck the reading order. Follow the breadcrumbs and you won't be disappointed. You'll find some of the well-nigh ballsy stories that have been produced in recent years.

Why I never cared about Thor?

I have to be completely honest with you. In the many years of reading comics I accept, I never cared much nigh Thor. Yeah, I know there have been expert runs in the Simonson time, and I read some good issues during the Straczynski and Coipel run, but all that Asgardian stories was not my thing.

Who cares what happens in Asgard, their battles with the frost giants, Loki trying to fox everybody, Hela, and all that stuff? What's to like about a Thor talking in crappy erstwhile English? That was so difficult to read to me. Well, it seems that this guy Jason Aaron cared about Thor, and he constructed a story universe then powerful and intense that made a not believer as me totally care about the characters.

As a matter of fact, Jason Aaron synthetic in Thor an epic story that somehow resembles the Lord of the Rings, in terms of introducing lots of characters that yous don't know beforehand. He makes you care about and love them in a very short term, and presents villains you come to hate strongly and really desire to encounter defeated. I believe that's the strongest indicate from Jason Aaron's story on Thor, he makes you FEEL about the characters. Even the one I thought (earlier reading the story) that was a cheap gimmick: the female Thor.

So let'south not waste more time in dive deep into the

Thor by Jason Aaron reading society

But before you offset, remember that as Amazon Affiliates, we become small comissions every fourth dimension y'all purchase one of this books by going through our links. So if you do it, you lot volition not simply read first-class stories merely besides back up united states of america to go on generating this kind of reviews.

I. Thor: God of Thunder

This series runs for 25 issues from 2012 to 2014. In that location are many great storylines starting in these books, so good that are function of the drives of the current War of the Realms storyline. You can go for the single problems, but as ever, my recommendations to save time, infinite & money is to go for the nerveless volumes:

Thor the God Butcher Thor Godbomb

  1. The God Butcher: collects Thor: God of Thunder #1-v
  2. Godbomb: collects Thor: God of Thunder #half-dozen-11

Introduces a powerful enemy that, as his name indicates, kills gods. As well, starts playing with stories from Thor at different stages of his life, where you encounter how his own grapheme modifies, from a hot headed young boy to a lonely, depressed yet proud old warrior.

  1. The Accursed: collects Thor: God of Thunder # 12-eighteen.
Thor God of Thunder: The Accursed by Jason Aaron
Thor: The Accursed

In this series Aaron reintroduces Malekith, a dark elf that appeared for the get-go time in Thor #344, dorsum in the Simonson'south days. And what a villain he makes! It's one of the most evil ones you've seen in comics. Mark my words for when y'all read this books.

Also hither the interactions between the different realms is expanded, and we're even introduced to the League of the Realms, a concept that resembles the Community of the Ring from Lord of the Rings. Greeeeeeat story!

  1. Last Days of Midgard: collects Thor: God of Thunder # 19-25

In this book, Thor faces non other than Galactus. In addition, nosotros're introduced to Dario Agger, head of the rotten Roxxon corporation, and with a quite interesting secret within himself. Some other great villain that gets in the fold.

And we too dive dipper into Malekith's story and get more hints of the things to come.

As always, the story is too collected into a couple of hardcovers, which I prefer due to the quality of the publication: God of Thunder, Book one andVolume 2.

II. Original Sin

This series is interlaced with the previous collection, but places important $.25 of history in the things to come.

Original Sin Thor & Loki
Original Sin Thor & Loki
  1. Original Sin: Thor & Loki: The Tenth Realm

The story takes place after the beginning of Original Sin and before Thor: God of Thunder #24. A new realm appears here, and an important character in the new Thor mythology.

Original Sin

  1. Original Sin:

This story features the murder of Uatu, the Watcher, and many secrets are revealed, including one that will change Thor's life forever and will be pivotal in the serial to come.

Three. Thor (2014-2015)

This drove runs for 8 problems (8 issues!! Tin can you see why I'k and so pissed off about these renumberings!?) and introduces the female Thor. When I read this, I believed information technology to exist a stupid gimmick from Curiosity, to draw attention to the graphic symbol. Equally the many deaths of _______ (place grapheme here).

But no. This series answers the enigma of who holds the Thor identity at present, while disarms the Thor you came to know in the previous incarnation. Literally. Jason Aaron built a consolidated story that fabricated united states really CARE about the character, and made her exist really worthy to conduct the proper noun.

This is series is nerveless in 2 volumes:

Thor Goddess of Thunder by Jason Aaron
Thor: Goddess of Thunder
Thor Who Holds the Hammer by Jason Aaron
Who Holds The Hammer
  1. Goddess of Thunder: collects Thor #i-v
  2. Who Holds The Hammer?: Collects Thor #half-dozen-8, Annual#1 and What If? (1977).

Or one cute Hardcover that collects Thor #1-eight plus Almanac #ane

Update July 2019: if you heard the announcements from Curiosity Studios at the San Diego Comicon,  side by side Thor's movie, starring Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson, will include Natalie Portman who volition get Thor, goddess of thunder. If you want to know where these stories are inspired… starting time here and with the next title:

Four. Mighty Thor (2015-2018)

Thanks to Marvel's "magic numbering" organisation, this drove goes from bug 1 to 23, and so jumps to 700 and continues to 706. Crazy, isn't it? When will somebody tell this people that this is horrible for people who wants to read their books? Non to say that it also ways they consider them stupid. Or perhaps we are, considering if they practise it is considering we usually buy higher quantities of circular numbers similar #700, etc. Anyway, is a boldness to the readers and the characters…

Ok, I'll quit the Grampa Simpson's complaints, and go with the stories… that's what actually matters.
